Understanding Neck Pain
Neck pain can happen for various reasons. It might be due to poor posture, muscle strain, or, in some cases, something more serious like a herniated disc. In other cases, an underlying medical condition can also lead to neck pain.
The neck is a complex part of our body, with bones, muscles, and nerves all working together. When something goes wrong in this delicate balance, it can result in pain and discomfort.
How the ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic Team Can Help You Find Relief
We blend a variety of different exercises and techniques to improve movement and reduce pain. Here’s how it can work wonders for your neck pain:
1. Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into key parts of the body, helping to relieve pain and tension.
2. Hands-on Techniques
We often incorporate hands-on techniques, such as massage therapy, chiropractic adjustments, or gentle stretches, to alleviate muscle tension and improve mobility in neck joints.
3. Targeted Exercises
We’ll design exercises that specifically target the muscles and structures causing your neck pain. These exercises are tailored to your needs, ensuring they are effective and safe.
4. Posture Correction
Many of us have less-than-ideal posture, especially when working on computers or looking down at our phones. Our specialists will teach you how to maintain good posture, reducing the strain on your neck muscles.
5. Education and Self-care
Understanding how to take care of your neck is essential. We can provide valuable insights on ergonomics, lifestyle changes, and self-care practices to manage and prevent future neck pain.
Our team stays up-to-date on the most advanced treatments and will adjust your program as needed. We will give you the tools to resolve your current episode of pain so you can get back to doing what you love!
What to Expect During Your Sessions
Your first visit will consist of a thorough evaluation during which we ask about your medical history, assess your range of motion, and discuss your pain symptoms.
Once we have a clear picture, we will create a personalized treatment plan that includes specific exercises and techniques tailored to your condition. Depending on your needs, you’ll work closely with a physical therapist, chiropractor, massage therapist, or acupuncturist. Together, we’ll monitor your progress and adjust as needed.
Here are some of the benefits you can expect:
- Pain Relief: Our primary goal is to reduce your pain and discomfort. With targeted exercises and techniques, many people experience significant relief.
- Improved Mobility: You’ll likely notice improved neck mobility as you progress through your treatment. This means you can turn your head more easily and without pain.
- Better Quality of Life: Neck pain can limit your daily activities. Our approach can help you regain your ability to do things you love, like gardening, playing sports, or even just enjoying a pain-free night’s sleep.
- Preventing Recurrence: Our specialists don’t just treat the symptoms; they also work on preventing future episodes of neck pain. By learning better habits and exercises, you can reduce the chances of neck pain returning.

Unconventional Yet Effective Solutions for Neck Pain
Do you ever wake up with a stiff neck and wonder why it keeps happening? You’re not alone. Neck pain is quite common, and it can have a negative impact on your quality of life. But there are solutions, including some more unusual ones you may not have heard about yet.
At ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic, our physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncturists use cutting-edge approaches to ensure you find the most effective ways to find lasting relief!
How to Help Your Neck Pain — Tips You May Not Know
Tackling neck pain is not just about focusing on the neck itself. By implementing these unconventional yet scientifically-backed recommendations into your daily routine, you’re setting yourself on a path toward relief and lasting wellness.
Lumbar Support Can Alleviate Neck Pain
The way your lower back is positioned has a big effect on your neck. Using lumbar support can help you sit up straight, letting your neck sit over your shoulders like it should.
When you know you will be sitting for a while, whether at work or in the car, use a rolled-up towel or buy a lumbar roll to put in your lower back. Even though you’re changing the lower back position, your neck will thank you!
Why Thoracic Mobility Matters
The thoracic spine consists of the 12 vertebrae in your mid-back. It plays a critical role in your overall spinal function. When this area is stiff or restricted, your neck compensates by moving more than it should. This often leads to a forward head posture, which can strain the neck muscles and lead to long-term pain.
Mind-Body Connection
Believe it or not, the state of your mind can also help heal your neck pain. Research has shown that stress can intensify pain, so techniques like mindfulness and breathing exercises can help reduce stress levels. Just a few minutes a day of deep breathing can go a long way.
Using unconventional techniques like lumbar support, thoracic mobility exercises, and even mindfulness can help you feel better faster. Why not give these unconventional methods a try? Your neck will be happier for it!

Patient of The Month
ProClinix Patient of the Month: Teresa!
Teresa, an avid hiker and cyclist, has been working with Dan Bogart, PT, MS, and Melanie Mandel, PTA, CSCS, at ProClinix in Ardsley to overcome knee pain and regain mobility following a biking accident in which she tore her meniscus.

In the first two videos, Teresa is performing a reverse lunge on the ball of her foot using sliders. This exercise focuses on loading the front leg to strengthen the quadriceps, glutes, and gastrocnemius, while improving eccentric control, balance, and lower extremity stability. These improvements are essential for reducing pain and improving function during activities such as hiking on uneven terrain, deep squatting, and prolonged cycling.
In the final video, Teresa is performing a glute bridge with a hamstring curl on the slider board. This movement activates the posterior chain—including glutes, hamstrings, and core—while promoting pelvic stability and eccentric hamstring strength. These benefits directly support her rehab goals and help prepare her for a safe return to hiking and biking.
We’re proud of Teresa’s dedication and progress, and we’re grateful to be part of her recovery journey. Keep up the great work, Teresa!

How To Have a Great Summer–PT Style!
The days are getting longer, the air is getting warmer, and school is winding down. That means one thing: summer is on its way! Here are some tips to ensure a healthy summer for you and your family:
- Drink plenty of water. While you should strive to stay hydrated all year round, it’s particularly important in warmer weather.
- Ease back into summer activities gradually: Whether you’re hitting the pool more frequently or taking more evening walks thanks to the later sunsets, avoid doing too much too soon. Start slow, don’t push too hard, and remember to warm up first.
- Don’t skip your therapy sessions. We know summer is busy. But keeping up with your physical therapy, chiropractor, massage therapy, and acupuncture sessions will help you stay active and pain-free throughout the season–and beyond!
