Why Should I Choose Multidisciplinary Care at ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic?
Our blend of physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and acupuncture provides several benefits over costly surgeries and medications. By combining these different fields, we can help resolve your pain, improve your function, and enhance your overall health and well-being.
One of the most significant benefits of this approach is that it can uncover the underlying reasons for your injuries or pain. Here are just some of the culprits we can address:
- Restricted mobility
- Weakness
- Poor posture and faulty movement patterns
- Gait abnormalities
- Loss of balance
- Coordination deficits
- Neurological impairment
- Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors (i.e., poor sleep habits, improper nutrition, lack of exercise, etc.).
Four Benefits of Our Approach
We can help improve your joint range of motion and overall mobility.
Your body’s movement depends on how individual joints move and how the body’s joints move in concert with one another. Increasing joint range of motion and mobility of the connective tissues around your joints (including the tendons, muscles, fascia, and joint capsules) will help your joints feel better and move better.
We can do this through massage therapy, mobilization techniques like chiropractic adjustments, or targeted exercise. These techniques will help you improve overall functional mobility and activity tolerance, which are essential for work, leisure, and simple daily functions.
We can help strengthen weaknesses and compensation patterns.
Through injury or surgery, muscles become weak, impacting one’s ability to move and function normally. For some, an old injury or abnormal movement pattern has led to weaknesses due to compensations.
Our team can assess your whole body to identify these weaknesses and provide information on restoring strength and function.
We can improve your overall health and well-being.
Our multidisciplinary team provides a whole-person approach to addressing your concerns. For example, our acupuncturists can provide acute pain relief so you can more easily perform any exercises suggested by your physical therapists or chiropractor. Our massage therapists can target restrictions in your soft tissue that might limit your mobility. By working together, you get the care you need.
And the result? You’ll be able to move and exercise more frequently, which can lead to improved health and independence!
We can help you reduce the risk of injury.
By implementing our holistic, integrated approach, we can improve and restore your function and prevent injuries. Reduced pain, fewer mobility restrictions, and improved balance, coordination, and strength all help lower your risk of injury.

Exercise of the Month
Bird Dog
by Katie Streeter, PTA
The Bird Dog, or “quadruped alternating arm and leg,” is a great bodyweight exercise that targets the thighs, glutes, lower back, and abdominals. Since it requires no equipment other than a mat, this exercise can be integrated easily into almost any core strength-training routine.
Let’s try it:
- Find a spot on the floor with enough space to extend one arm and your opposite leg simultaneously.
- Kneel on an exercise mat or another cushioned surface with your knees hip-distance apart and hands firmly on the ground, about shoulder-width apart.
- Engage your abdominals by drawing your belly button towards your spine.
- Point one arm straight out in front and extend the opposite leg behind you, forming a straight line from your extended hand to your extended foot. Keep your hips squared to the ground. **Tip: If your lower back begins to sag, raise your leg only as high as you can while keeping your back straight.
- Hold this position for a few seconds, then return to your hands and knees. Keep your abs engaged throughout the entire exercise and work to minimize any extra motion in your hips during the weight shift.
- Switch to the other side.
- Aim to complete 5 reps on each side or 10 reps total. Add additional sets of 10 reps for a maximum of 3 sets of 10.
Enjoy the exercise and good luck!
*MODIFICATION: If you struggle with maintaining form for this exercise, practice first by lifting your hand and opposite knee just an inch or two off of the floor while balancing on the other hand and knee. Make sure to keep your weight centered. When you feel steady, you are ready to move on to a full range of motion.

Patient Spotlight:
“I’ve had such a great experience at ProClinix during my recovery from knee surgery. Not only has my physical therapist, Dr. Chris Ju, been an amazing partner in my recovery, pushing me when I needed it, listening to how I am responding to treatment, and adjusting his approach to get the very best results, but the entire Pleasantville team has always been incredibly kind and supportive. You tend to see the same staff members and group of patients during your recovery process and there have been plenty of kind and encouraging words and laughs along the way. ProClinix has been a great place for me to heal and get stronger!
