(PT)
Dr. Monica Carreira is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation and sports performance. Dr. Monica Carreira earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. Her clinical affiliations included outpatient and acute care. With experience working with athletes of all levels, including NFL, NBA and MLB athletes she is passionate about helping individuals recover from injury, return to the activities they love, and build the strength and confidence needed to perform at their best.
Her clinical experience includes treating a wide range of orthopedic and sports-related conditions, including muscle strains and sprains, tendinopathies, ACL and other ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, shoulder injuries, low back pain, hip and knee pain, running-related injuries, and overuse injuries. She takes an individualized, movement-focused approach to rehabilitation, combining evidence-based physical therapy with strength and conditioning to help her patients achieve lasting results.
In addition to being a physical therapist, Dr. Carreira is a certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor, allowing her to incorporate strength, mobility, movement quality, and body awareness into her treatment approach. She believes rehabilitation should go beyond simply getting out of pain—it should empower patients to move better, feel stronger, and confidently return to the activities they enjoy.
Outside of the clinic, you can usually find Monica adventuring, staying active, and exploring new places around the world. Her own passion for movement and an active lifestyle fuels her commitment to helping others continue doing what they love, whether that means competing in their sport, getting back to the gym, or simply enjoying an active life.
